Mandy Alberry – successful business owner of Sonning Flowers

Mandy Alberry, owner of Pulse Bookkeeping, spent 20 years working in finance depaBookkeeping for floristsrtments for large, multi-national companies. After all that time, she needed a complete change. As Mandy’s passion was floristry, it made perfect sense to set up a florist shop, and Sonning Flowers was established.

Initially, Sonning Flowers was situated in a tiny but beautiful wooden building, not much larger than a garden shed. It even had leaded light windows! Fifteen years later, the company had flourished into a large high street florist with several staff, winning multiple national awards in the Wedding industry too.

Mandy says: “Without a doubt, my finance background kept Sonning Flowers on track. What I enjoyed most about running Sonning Flowers was being a business owner, and all that pertained to running it as a business.”

In a nutshell, Mandy has all the experience necessary to run a successful SME.

Eventually, one of Mandy’s staff members, who had worked with her for six years, wanted to buy Sonning Flowers and run it herself. Mandy saw this as an excellent opportunity to move on in her career and help business owners to run their businesses, so the deal was made. Better still, Mandy still helps to run Sonning flowers, saying: “Now I can do what I love best – work onthe business, not in the business!”

More than ‘just’ a bookkeeper

After fifteen years of growing Sonning Flowers into a flourishing business, Mandy now wants to help other SMEs to grow their businesses. On selling Sonning Flowers, she could start a new business to do just that – help other businesses to succeed using both her financial skills and her sound business sense. Thus, Pulse Bookkeeping was born.

What does a Bookkeeper do?

A bookkeeper records the financial transactions of your business.

Keeping track of your sales and purchases, reconciling your bank account and predicting your cash flow.

Organising your financial data on a regular basis.

All of these transactions will be recorded in a standard way so that your Accountant can easily compile your annual accounts.

If you own your own business I am sure you are passionate about running it and concentrating on the tasks you love doing, but not so interested in recording all the details of every financial transaction.
